Question about Cleaning Goggles
« on: May 20, 2010, 10:31:42 PM »
Hi guys. I was wondering what the best way to clean my goggles are. Last week, my goggles were splashed with methanol-toulene (1:1), and unfortunately, I didn't clean my goggles properly, and now, there are dried-up, translucent spots all over my goggles, which is an annoyance. What's the best way to get rid of these spots? Would acetone do the trick? Thanks again.

Goggles are just like 5 bucks assuming they're not prescription.  Anyway, I've heard acetone deforms them, but I tested it and didn't see anything happen.  I'd just use some soapy DI water then rinse with DI.

Acetone totally destroyed a pair of goggles when I saw someone attempt to clean with it.

my guess is you rinsed with tap water. Thats what caused the spotting. Iv used windex to clean my polycarb glasses.
