i've got a test question where it asks how NOx is produced in a combustion chamber. the answer was the burning of nitrogen in air at high temperatures. but since the nitrogen triple bonds, isnt it like very hard to break them?

the operating temperature of the combustion chamber would be at least 700C. Lightning is known to convert atmospheric nitrogen to NOx. Why not?
