What is the difference between H2/Lindlar catalyst and H2/NH3 reagents? I know H2/Lindlar gives a cis alkene, but what does H2/NH3 do?

Na/NH3 hydrogenates in a trans fashion. It is a type of dissolving metal reduction. http://www.chem.ucalgary.ca/courses/351/Carey/Ch09/ch9-7.html for the mechanism.
So your product would be a trans-alkene.
