What is the difference between H2/Lindlar catalyst and H2/NH3 reagents? I know H2/Lindlar gives a cis alkene, but what does H2/NH3 do?

hydrogenates in a trans fashion. It is a type of dissolving metal reduction.

for the mechanism.
So your product would be a trans-alkene.
