Colloid is not a term we really use to describe individual molecules, but rather a system - where one substance is evenly dispersed throughout another.

So, I would not call fats or water colliodal molecules but I would call a glass of milk a colloid.

The molecules within a colloid are free to hold a charge, subject to the regular laws of chemistry, which can be stabilised by additives like detergents.
