Oximes to N-hydroxy amines
« on: July 19, 2010, 05:56:57 PM »
Hello.

I wonder if any in here have any ways to reduce an oxime to a N-hydroxy amine? Will NaBH4 be strong enough or should I go through cyanoborohydride maybe?

Any suggestion are welcome. I am just afraid of no reaction or maybe reduce to the amine.

Thank in advance.

Jeff

Sodium cyanoborohydride might do the trick. It's a mild reducing agent often used on imines.
