Chemical equation for a precipitate?

"What amount of NaI is needed to precipitate 3 g of Pb(NO
3
)
2
? What weight of PbI
2
is formed?"
I can do the stoichiometry, I just can't figure out an equation. Where did the sodium go and what's my course of lead and nitrate?
NaI + ?
Pb(NO
3
)
2
(s) + PbI

Are you sure you are not asked to precipitate all the lead from the lead nitrate solution containing 3 g of the salt?
