Solubility in Acetone
« on: September 13, 2010, 04:16:57 AM »
Which would be the most and least soluble solute given that the solvent is acetone:
a. water
b. dimethyl ether
c. diethyl ether
d. diisopropyl ether
e. ethylene glycol

...

I'm not sure with my answer. My answer for the most soluble is diisopropyl ether for, like acetone, it has the most dispersion force and dipole-dipole attraction. For the most insoluble, my answer is ethylene glycol because it will prefer H-bond which the acetone can't give.
