Please help GAMSAT question! optical isomers

Hi

Could someone help me with question 1 of the attched sheet?

I don't understand what the D means mid way through the formula, nor for question 2 what the D means?

D is a hydrogen Isotope. Hydrogen-2. It's the only instance I know where a separate symbol is used to indicate an isotope.

D is deuterium. Good luck with the test!.
