A compound with the formula C
3
H
6
O produces hydrogen when reacted with sodium metal. The compound is most likely to be
A) an alcohol
B) an aldehyde
C) an ether
D) a ketone
I'm not really that great at organic chemistry, so I don't really have much of a clue as to how to answer this question. Any help/hints would be appreciated.

Why not be an alcohol, which has a hydroxyl group can react with sodium to produce hydrogen, just like water.I chose A) an alcohol.Maybe you can find some answers in your organic chemistry text book.
