balancing equation help

Iron and oxygen gas react to form iron(III) oxide.

Fe + O2 -> FeO ???

How do I balance this??? Not getting this concept. I need to write the formula and the product and balance both. thx!

How many oxygens are there on the LHS and on the RHS? How can you balance them?

There are 2 oxygen atoms on the LHS so I need 2 on the RHS, but how do I work the Fe with positive 3 ion charge in there?

Looks OK to me, bear in mind that your first post did not use the formula for iron(III) oxide, so perhaps check to see what you want.
