Note: I am not a chemist , but I need help in finding a material !


I am looking to manufacture sandals/slippers with a special material, that I am not really sure it exists. Basically, the (sandal/slipper) pad would be made out of a material that will take the shape of the bottom of the foot (in other words ,the foot will sink into the material), in order to reduce the pressure on foot. Moreover, when foot is off the pad , the pad would go to its normal shape. The most important point is, I want the material to fill all the gaps in the bottom of the foot when used.

All suggestions are acceptable

Memory foam is probably the right idea (highly visco-elastic urethane foam).

However, for a shoe material you need a thin material.  The material probably needs to be much stiffer than "pillow" memory foam.  The material needs to resist compression set and not bottom out.

You may want to consider a silicone foam or neoprene foam.
