How many electrons are needed to convert one nitrate ion into one ammonia molecule?
I tried balancing it as a an oxidation-reduction half-reaction, which gave me 5e
- + 6H
+ + NO
3- NH
3 + 3H
2O, so I guessed that the answer was 5. It’s supposedly 8 though, how do you get that?
Subject: Conditions at Equilibrium
What condition describes a reaction at equilibrium?
A) :delta: G = 0
B) :delta: G° = 0
C) :delta: G° = :delta: G°
D) ln K = 0
I know that :delta: G = 0 describes a reaction at equilibrium, but since :delta: G = -RTln(K) and :delta: G=0, then wouldn’t that also imply that ln K = 0 since R and T aren’t 0? Or are we assuming that T could be 0, so A is the answer as opposed to D?
