Question : Nitroacetophenone Reduction
« on: October 17, 2010, 02:55:27 PM »
Hello,

Im doing my pre-labfor the reaction of a reduction on nitroacetophenone with Sn/HCL

And im wondering why are we using an excess of Sn?

Also after the reaction, why are we treating the mixture with a Base..?

Could anyone help me or atleast point me in the right direction !

I have anyother small question

If we have 10mL of HCL 6M
When we want to find the number of moles..we do n=m/M but do we need to take in account the 6?

Thanks,
Byuda
