First real org chem reaction lab help

We are going to do a Markonikov electrophilic reaction with 1-methylcyclohexene and NBS, H2O to form bromomethylcyclohexanols. I am pretty clueless as to what should be in my pre-lab. Any input would be appreciated.

NBA in water generates HOBr perhaps that helps?
