chiral center

i was wondering what is the difference between stereogenic center and chiral center? i read in the book that stereogenic center is also a chiral center if carbonium is bonded to 4 different groups and when the structure's mirror image is non-superimposable. but when the carbonium would be just stereogenic center and not even chiral center? is this the case when i have plane of simmetry or?  ???

Stereogenic and chirality center mean the same thing. I don't recall the dates for these nomenclature changes, but you could find them if you search for it.
