Solar Cell best dyes
« on: November 14, 2010, 05:51:53 PM »
So i am making a solar cell in chemistry and we will be rewarded if our cell has a higher electric current than the professor's cell. so far i am thinking about using leaves and purified chlorophyll as my dye but i've also heard that some juices from fruits work best and that random anthrocyanins work best.

so has anyone done this experiment and has some advice for me about what to look for for the best dye and what maybe to avoid??

thanks.

Using chlorophyll will give you a low electric yield , in fact most  organic solar cells are!

I recommend you to make a gratzel cell since they have 12% efficiency and the are cheap!
another thing, solar cells are connected in series to get higher voltage and parallel to yield a higher current, since your professor will reward who has a higher current then i recommend you connect your cells in parallel ;)
