Diamonds

I know this seems like a terribly stupid question, but would diamond have a covalent structure or an extended molecular structure? I feel like it might be covalent because that's what gives the diamond its hardness, but then again the extended molecular structure includes the definition of diamond's 3-dimensional structure.

so you're saying that it doesn't have a covalent structure?
