I did this experiment for my lab. We synthesized dulcin using p-phenetidine, urea, HCl and water. The overall yield of the recrystallized dulcin was 17.6% (wt/wt) based on how much p-phenetidine was used. To those who are familiar with this experiment, is this a terrible yield?
