Change of State

freezing point of Mercury: -38.8 degree Celsius

density of liquid mercury: 13.6 g/cm3

specific heat capacity is 0.140 J/g*K

heat of fusion is 11.4 J/g

Problem: What amount in joules is released to the surroundings if 1.00 mL of Mercury is cooled from 23.0 to -38.8 degree Celsius and then frozen to a solid?

What is the formula(s) in order to solve this?
