Residential water well. H2O2 + HCL = danger?
« on: November 06, 2010, 12:25:27 AM »
I have well water that has Iron, Hydrogen sulfide, Bicarbonates, and a PH of 9.04
I currently add H2O2 as an oxidizer to flocculate/coagulate the Iron and other dissolved solids which then get filtered by GAC (activated Carbon).
I add 6 oz. HCL and 64 oz. of H2O2 to 10 gals. of pretreatment water to lower the PH and create an oxidizer. It is this pretreatment water that contains both H2O2 and HCL.
The pretreatment water then gets injected into the well water stream and does it's filtering and PH adjustment as it idles through a 30 gallon pretreatment tank. The coagulation needs at least 5 minutes of contact to achieve flocculation.
According to Lab quality test strips the water PH when it reaches the house water-appliances/faucets is near PH 7.0
Am I creating any health hazards or equipment damage?

If your doing could not be harmed in some people who around in you. Well, if you’re doing is a benefit to all that is good to you. But then before you make a decision about cleaning or filtration in residential water might your local government know these.

I live in an unincorporated area of Texas and am not subject to, nor covered by, water quality control rules, regulations, or inspections.
I can pay to have a water sample tested, and have, ($120.00) but the "normal" tests for bacteria and "basic constituents" don't involve chemical tests for acids or alkalis other than a normal PH measurement.
