bicyclo[2.2.2]octa-2,5-diene photoisomerization
« on: December 12, 2010, 06:24:58 PM »
The question is whether product is endo or exo, are both bridges on the same side, "both up", or are they on opposite sides, one "up" and one "down".  Also--the hydrogens are trans correct?  NOT Cis..I couldn't draw the dashed lines in paint, so they are pointing in opposite directions which I hope is visible.  We think the endo product is correct.

OK, why do you think the endo product is correct? What are the MOs, what kind of symmetry at the TS, etc.
