Looking for a titrator that can handle hydrofluoric acid
« on: February 02, 2011, 02:08:28 PM »
Apparently my predecessor destroyer $8000 of equipment because the titrators he ordered couldn't handle hydrofluoric acid.

I'm looking for a good (cheap is a plus) titrator that can titrate a solution of NH3 with upwards of 30% concentraion and HF with upwards of 4% concentration.

Help is appreciated!

Are you analyzing for HF, or is that the titrant?

If you're analyzing for HF, do it gravimetrically. Make a solution of CaCl2 (can standardize with phosphate gravimetrically, or with silver ion). CaF2 isn't very soluble.

Just what exactly are you doing?
Neither flask nor beaker.

The HF and nitric acid are the unknowns.

After some more research, this is exactly what I'm doing.
