I am synthesizing some hydrazine derivatives these days, when I check though UV (just checked) some spots are slightly visible but it is not conclusive. Can anyone suggest better method to visualize hydrazine (general speaking amine)? And the other trickiest point is hydrazine and other hydrazine derivatives I have both can be shown very closer polarity.

I would be so grateful if someone can suggest me a better method. I have already general TLC staining method they talk about amine and amino acids bit not specifically hydrazine.

Ninhydrin is the normal go-to for amines. I also like ceric ammonium molybdate as a general purpose stain.

I have yet to find something an iodine chamber doesn't stain. With that in mind, its totally nonselective.

I suppose some kind of solution of dinitrofluorobenzene could work. Friend of mine made dinitrophenyl hydrazine and its quite orange
