Solubility Assumption?
« on: March 14, 2011, 12:59:17 PM »
The questions asks if solutions of BaCl2 and Na2SO4 are mixed will BaSO4 precipitate. Looking through the solution they assume that BaCl2 and NaSO4 disassociate completely and so those numbers are used to calculate Q. How can this assumption be made?

I would have thought that you would need to find out the solubility of both molecules before finding Q for BaSO4.

Solubility of the molecule?

Both barium chloride and sodium sulfate are strong electrolytes.
