I am in gchem 2 and someone from gchem 1 asked me this, but I couldn't figure out how to accommodate the water...
How many mL of 6M HNO3 must be added to 200mL of water to get 0.150M of HNO3?

The answer is not exactly 5mL, although if you use proper significant figures, then it does round to 5 mL. It's a pretty simple dilution problem. What are you having trouble with?

Thanks rabo. Yea I worked out 5mL, but the sig figs threw me for a loop. I don't think my brain wanted to allow .146 M to be rounded up to .150, so I made it more complicated than necessary.
