When synthesizing an Acid Chloride from a Carboxylic acid my professor uses CH2Cl2 with RT ....Can anyone explain to me what RT is or stands for. im guessing its some sort of short hand for some chemical ? Thanks!

RT= room temperature
You can also use SOCl2 to form an acyl chloride.

was the solvent. There has to be another reagent present (SOCl
2
, oxalyl chloride, etc...) as dichloromethane will not convert a carboxyl group to an acyl chloride.
