charcoal, sugar and recrystallization

If charcoal and sugar were main impurities present in crude acetanilide, would recrystallization be a good method of purification?  My teacher gave us that question after lab.  I am pretty sure it is a yes, but it seems like a trick question.  Recrystallization is a good way for purifying aything, isn't it?  Thanks.

No, I wouldn't want to recrystallize sugar since that is an impurity...
