Nitrosobenzene
« on: May 29, 2011, 01:50:56 PM »
So this is linked to my other, broader question but since I don't have any replies I figure I'd ask this seperately.

Nitrosobenzene, so Ph-N=O. How would the reaction mechanics work for an addition reaction to a carbon chain with a double bond? It should end up binding the N to the carbon chain and splitting off the O (presumably as water).

What kind of double bond do you mean? Towards an ordinary double bond it might not be as reactive as e.g. NOCl.
