SYNTHESIS of Ph-COOH to Ph-CH2-COOH

What kind of synthesis should I look into? I just wanna get guided to the right direction. Thanks!

You're building carbon skeleton by adding one extra carbon. You should therefore look into carbon-elongation reactions. I immediately think a simple Grignard with some functional group transformations should do the trick.
