paraformaldehyde and oxygen depletion
« on: July 22, 2011, 09:18:15 PM »
hello, not quite sure how to ask what I need to know but basically all I know of paraformaldehyde is that it's a formalehyde precipitate.

What I would like to know is how it actually interacts with oxygen molecules, when paraform. is exposed to an area. I have heard claims that it removes oxygen from the air, but I don't know enough about its chemical composition and what reaction would cause this.

I would appreciate any info on this.

Paraformaldehyde slowly decomposes into formaldehyde. This in turn seems to be able to react with oxygen.
