Love and chemistry
« on: September 08, 2011, 03:29:59 PM »
I once red an article about a research on the relationshipship between love and chemistry.Inside the article it was stated that there are aome hormones that control love and feelings, and that those hormones of men get used up quicker than that of women and thats the reason why most relationships breack up as a results of men wanting no more with the relationship.
But is there any relationship between love and chemistry?I mean how are hormones related to chemicals? If there si any relation,I would like to kwon the names of those hormone-controling love feelings and how they function.

Hi Luternet,

I heard the same thing a while back, I think its the same compound - phenylethylamine or PEA - that is also found in chocolate and when your in love.
Apperantly its works on some of the opiod receptors in our brain - the same receptors that are used by drugs such as cocaine, marijuana, etc.

Love is chemical addiction.  In a relationship certain chemicals are released in response to seeing the other person.  After a long period of time of being used to these chemicals, physical discomfort is caused by not, or the thought of, not getting ones fix.  These chemicals make you feel good, which makes sense evolutionarily speaking:  humans happy in relationships would procreate far more than those that have no emotional response to a relationship.
