I'm doing a presentation on Coherent Anti-Stokes Raman Spectroscopy.

From my research, I've been able to find out that a huge issue with CARS is the interference from nonresonant backgrounds.

I've tried modifying my question on search engines in several ways, but no luck. My question is simple - "What is a nonresonant background/ what is the difference between resonant/nonresonant background?"
