Compression/Expansion difference

Can anyone tell me what the difference is when solving for a reverse adiabatic compression rather than a reverse adiabatic expansion???

1. Compression - final temperature & pressure is higher than initial. Work done to the system

2. Expansion - Final temperature & pressure is lower than initial. Work done by the system
