I was waiting for more information from you. However, even so, your application is a little hard to understand. You're looking for "wavelengths" but what general range and under what circumstances? Do you want visible range detection? In which case, you're asking for basically, the color of the substances in bulk. Do you want their infrared spectrum? We do that by grinding the solid and locking it into a sealed instrument. Do you expect to hit traces of these solids with say a UV lamp, and get a visible fluorescence glow? These compounds also have a highly specific element spectrum, when excited inside a flame, do you mean that application? Gamma or x-ray excited fluorescence? (Sorry, I know little about those, but others may be able to help) I do know they require pointing a powerful source at the target, and there seems to be
something of a limit as to what the airport personnel are allowed to do to people -- 'tho I wouldn't put it past them.
