HELP PLEASE ! urget
« on: October 16, 2011, 04:59:59 PM »
Hi all, I would like to know why isopropyl cation is more stable than a cycloproply cation ( both are secondary ).

Is it because isoproply cation experiences more hyperconjugation ?

Thanks a lot !!!!   ;D

Carbocations are planar, I might think that the ring strain in the cyclopropyl case contributes to the decreased stability.
