Introduction of Silicone additives
« on: October 25, 2011, 04:40:21 AM »
Dearest all :

Hi , Greetings .

Today , i want to make a simple introduction of Silicone additives , i involved in this industry for many years , want to share some experiance here . Especially for those thermoplastic compounds manufacture , this introduction may help you .

Silicone additives improve the processing Properties of thermoplastic compounds. They reduce the melt viscosity and thus improve the flow characteristics of  thermoplastic compounds. By lowering the extruder torque and die pressure, they save energy -alternatively, significantly more compound for the same energy input can be produced. They prevent undesired die drool and other extruder deposits, particularly in compounds containing mineral fillers. This reduce down-time and cleaning time while boosting product quality.

Very typical silicone additives are (1) Silicone masterbatch  (2) Silicone powder (3) Anti-wear agent

Silicone masterbatch always based on various resin in order to meet different needs , like PE,PP,TPEE,EVA,PET,PA6,ABS.. Pellet form . Since these pellet has been pre-dispersed when compounding , so you don't need worry about dispersion problem and no bleeding problem . Noways , it widely used in many industries , like (1) Wire& Cable compounds (2) Engineering plastics (3) plastic pipe (4) Plastic film (5) TPE industry (6) plastic fibers ..

Silicone powder almost same as silicone masterbatch , but the silicone content usually higher than it . White powder form . Without any resin base. So it's suitable for many kinds of thermoplastics.

Anti-wear agent is typically for outsole of shoes for improve the abrasion resistance , like TPR/TR sole , EVA sole, TPU sole .

Ok , just my views , welcome different comments , thanks .
