H2SO4: preventing precipitation.
« on: October 25, 2011, 09:29:47 AM »
Our company utilizes 50% H2SO4. This can precipitate at 50.6degF, which the crystals forming in the line can cause damage.

The chemical tank is double-lined HDPE and is stored outdoors in Florida.

Any suggestions on methods of keeping the the sulfuric acid above 55deg F with minimal cost? Obviously there is to be some energy costs associated with this.

Thanks,

Rob

50 % H2SO4 freezes at ~ -30 F

Such a freezing point show ~30 % oleum.
The reason of precipitation should be something different.
