What is the major product?

What is the major product when 2,2-dimethyl-1-butanol is reacted with sulfuric acid. If possible a mechanism for the reaction would be extremely helpful.

Honestly i don't even know where to start, I have been trying to understand this for the final i have coming up in a few weeks.   ???

What major functional groups are present in the molecule, and what does your textbook say is the result of that general class with acid?

Well there are things called textbooks.
Look for the reactions of substituted alkanols with concentrated sulfuric acid. Try and find something.

Hint, if sulfuric acid forms hydronium ions in water, how did that happen? What then is a likely first step if 2,2-dimethylbutan-1-ol is treated with sulfuric acid?
