Which of the following statements is FALSE given the following net ionic equation?
2H
+(aq) + Cu(OH)
2(s)
Cu
2+ (aq) + 2 H
2O(l)
A) If all the water evaporated away, the salt remaining could possibly be Cu(C
2H
3O
2)
2.
B) The acid is a strong electrolyte.
C) Cu(OH)
2 is insoluble.
D) This is classified as a neutralization reaction.
I know that the answer is A, but I'd like to know why. I at first thought that maybe it's because the acetate ion and the copper ion remain in solution, but then I thought about it some more and realized that it does say that all the water evaporates. So what is the actual reason then? Does it have to do with the fact that acetic acid is a weak acid?
