The standard enthalpy of formation for MgSO4?
Attempt:
Mg(s) +
1/8 S8(g)
+ 2 O2(g) --> MgSO4
However, I am not sure if the bold part is correct. What is the uncombined form of sulphur?

S
8
, even if it is not uncommon to balance reactions and do the calculations as if it was just S.
But I don't think it will be still S
8
in gaseous form.
