Hi If I'm in the wrong place please let me know. I'm trying to identify what exactly is the product marketed here....
www.steelseal.co.uk . It's marketed to repair car cylinder head gaskets. One method for the repair of headgaskets is sodium silicate (water glass) . There are numerous brand names available, and they require that the user drain the coolant from the engine first if it contains glycol based antifreeze, because when sodium silicate meets glycol, a gel is formed. For the Steel Seal product, the marketer appers to insist that glycol antifreeze MUST be present for the product to work. However, the conversion temperature seems to be exactly the same, 100 degrees C, as sodium silicate ?
