Questen about using my calculator correcly with e=hv
« on: November 13, 2005, 10:28:48 PM »
im using the equation e=hv where v= speed of light / wavelength
and h = planks constant

so if wavelength = 217nm i convert to m by ( 217/10^9 ) = 2.17e-7 m
and plug it into the equation.. im making  a misttake typing somthing in my cacl

so its E = [(6.626e34 JXS)*(3.0e8 M S-1)] / (2.17e-7 m) and i get 9.16 x 10^49

what am i doing wrong thats answer is wrong..

Your value for Planck's Constant is wrong. It should 6.626E-34
