I am trying to find background information on MnO4- as to why it breaks down in air into MnO2 etc.
I know one of the equations is: MnO4- + 4H+ +3e --> MnO2 + 2H2O
But is there another one reacting with O2?
Also, I'm sure I read somewhere however that the more H2O or MnO2 present, the more MnO4- is broken down.
Is this true? Or am I thinking of something completely different?
I am also reacting MnO4- with Fe2+ and turning it into Mn2+ and Fe3+
So any info on Mn2+ would also be helpful
I have searched for the past few hours and haven't managed to find a website that has this information.
Any pointers or websites would be very helpful as I need to reference all the information I collect.
Thanks!!
