Hi, can somebody explain me this equation below? It´s Johann Rydberg´s equation to calculate frequence of lines of specture.
The equation is: v=R(1/n1^2 - 1/n2^2);
where
v= frequence of lines of specture
R= Rydberg constant = 3,29 * 10^15 Hz
n=3,4,...
I just wonder how do I interpret the equation? Dose the equation mean when an electron move from n=n2 shell to n=n1 shell, it emit a photon of frequence v?
Thanks for attention!
