This week's feature protocol at Nature Protocols is one for Synthetic Chemistry and comes from Shannah Stahl's lab.
Copper(I)/TEMPO-catalyzed aerobic oxidation of primary alcohols to aldehydes with ambient air
http://www.nature.com/nprot/journal/v7/n6/full/nprot.2012.057.html
At the moment, I am very much interested in putting together a collection of protocols for the synthesis of useful reagents that are expensive to buy. Any suggestions of protocols or authors? Do get in touch.
This is the type of thing that I have in mind (also free at the moment)
Synthesis of N-heterocyclic carbene ligands and derived ruthenium olefin metathesis catalysts
http://www.nature.com/nprot/journal/v6/n1/full/nprot.2010.177.html
This protocol (which, while excellent, would not form part of the series) is a good example of the formatting that we would expect.
Synthesis of N-methylated cyclic peptides
