bond line formula

hey everyone,

how would i draw the structure for CH3CCH2CH2CH2CH3. There is an O double bonded to the second carbon atom (on the top).

Would this molecule be cyclic?

Here is the drawn structure of the molecule, and no it cannot be cyclic.
Development Chemists do it on Scale, Research Chemists just do it!

thank you, that's what i thought. how do you know if a molecule can be cyclic so I know whether to draw it in a ring?

Try this: draw the above molecule as a ring, just connect the ends, and count the hydrogens in your drawn structure.  Then compare to the number you have.  That's one way.
