Re: How much Phosphoric Acid from85% 37% in gel texture

Hello there,
I'm pretty much new to chemistry and really know next to nothing about it. Any help would be welcomed

I'm in the process of manufacturing organic fish fertilizer but need some help with pH levels if anyone is kind enough to help.

Basically I need to lower the pH of 1 litre of liquid fish fertilizer from pH 5.4 to pH 3.0, the acid I'm using is liquid 85% phosphoric acid. How many (ml) of phosphoric acid do I need to lower pH levels?

I need to lower the pH so that the bacteria will stop acting and stop producing gasses. Currently the packaging can't stand the gas pressure and is exploding much to my dismay  :-[

Any help would be great.  :)

Thanks.

I want to prepare a dilute solution of phosphoric acid 85% to 38% in the form of the bulk of what Walt amount of water should be added for each kilogram of the acid and what is an article that can be added to give texture gel?

Since you want to make a certain percentage, you can just dilute appropriately.  You seem to be re-inventing naval jelly -- a quick Google for the MSDS leads me to an example composition: http://brown.edu/Departments/Visual_Art/documents/NavalJelly.pdf  It appears xanthan gum is favored.
Hey, I'm not judging.  I just like to shoot straight.  I'm a man of science.

No way to reasonably calculate amount of acid needed to change pH without knowing well what is already in the mix. Best approach is to use pH meter and titrate what you have till it has a correct pH.

Which is basically a systematic approach to the trial and error.
