pH/Kinetics/rate of reduction
« on: June 10, 2012, 07:02:20 PM »
One of the HW questions in my upper div marine chem class that I cant figure out.

The rate of reduction of Hg2+ (aq) by V2+ (aq) in weakly acid solution increases as the acid concentration decreases.
Why do you think this is?

thanks so much.

I would think about how changes in pH are related to changes in ion speciation.
