Hi,
 
I am looking to connect a mobile air compressor to a diaphragm pump. Air compressor provides 240 L/min under 8 ATM.
 The pump calculated head is 1.3 ATM.
 
Is it OK to connect the compressor to the pump directly? In case a pressure reducer is needed, I should lower the pressure to 1.3?

Well it would be interesting to see what happens when you connect an 8 bar line to something rated for 1.3 Bar!

You're both confusing two different things. 

The pump head is how much pressure the pump can deliver pumping a liquid (water was probably used for the calculation).

The air pressure is used to drive the pump and will be a completely different number but the maximum the pump is designed for could well be less than 8bar so check it out before doing it.

Exactly my thoughts.  I've usually seen pump head quoted in metres though; so 1.3 atm looked a bit weird.

A pump head of 1.3atm based on pumping water = a head of 13.4m of water
