Need Confirmation of a Question
« on: July 04, 2012, 07:12:05 PM »
Hi again,

I'm going through a chemistry textbook that (unfortunately) doesn't have an answer key.

Question: Determine the number of moles of N atoms in 43.5 g of Mg(NO3)2.

My answer:

43.5 g Mg(NO3)2 x (1 mol Mg(NO3)2 / 148.315 g Mg(NO3)2) x (2 mol N / 1 mol Mg(NO3)2) = 0.587 mol N

Is that correct? And I'm sorry if this type of question is not allowed on the forum, I'm fairly new to this.

Thanks

Edit: I realized the significant digits were off in my original calculation
